Thanks to the amazing luxury treatment I had last week, my feet are a softer than ever. Included was an additional foot and leg massage and of course a nice chat with foot therapist and beautician Bianca.
If you live in Stavanger or close, you should definitely book an appointment with her.
She does amazing work (including face treatments) at really good rates. Scroll down to view Bianca’s flyer and prices.
Time has gone so fast. After 5 wonderful days in England we are back in Norway. Was so nice to spend all day outside in mostly sunny weather. Cornwall is full of beautiful beaches and beautiful jewellery. As a belated Christmas present I received a pair of really stunning silver earrings from Pure Silver Design.
Last week I took a little photo tour with the amazing photgrapher Theresia Pauls. Having some red on me that day, she matched me with the perfect lip colour by Dior.
I have always been a fan of their lipsticks and glosses but was kind of hesitant to use orange undertones. I thought this colour would go much better with dark hair but I quite liked this one. This bold look is something that I probably wouldn’t normally wear for daytime but it’s perfect for a night out.
The rest of Theresia’s photos are coming soon! Meanwhile you can check her out and book her via tpauls.com
As many of you know already, I have been a big fan of Marina Miracle ever since I bought her face oil. After getting the opportunity to test her other products, I can assure you they are just as miraculous!
So this is how it all started: The Herbal Face Oil made my skin glow after only two days of using it and I was hooked. It is (like all Marina Miracle products) 100% natural, suits all skintypes and has anti-aging features. I use it every morning and evening before applying my moisturizer and sometimes, when I’m in a hurry, even mix it with my moisturizer which works just as well. The skin doesn’t feel greasy after using it but simply soft. Especially in winter I find it tricky to find the right skincare for me as my skin tends to get dry but products that are too rich make me break out. So I was more than happy to see that Marina Miracle’s Face Oil is just the right amount of moisturizing and makes occasional spots fade even faster.
Now let’s take a look at my new products. The Argan Night Serum with AHA is exfoliating, moisturizes the skin and promises to tighten the skin. So I guess I’m too young to say anything about the tightening effect but I can definitely say that my skin looks more radiant and pores are less visible, probaly due to the fact that this serum removes dead skin cells and renews the skin. As recommended I used it about 3 nights a week on cleansed skin. I absolutely love it!
The Eyelash Serum is the product I was probably most curious about. We all know lash growth serums but an eyelash care that you apply directly to your lashes was completely new to me. After using it every night for the last few weeks I wonder why I had never thought about eyelash care before. I use oil on my hair to make it stay shiny and grow longer, so why not do the same to your lashes? The serum promises to prevent lash loss and make lashes grow healthier and stronger with several vitamins and argan oil. A pleasent immediate effect of this serum is that lashes look more shiny and darker (which is particularly nice for us blondes). It seems that this effect lasts longer and longer now, not only right after applying it. My lashes actually appear a bit stronger and healthier and more visible even without mascara. When it comes to lash products, you usually have to wait for a few months to see the full effect as lashes stay on your eye for around 100 days before falling out and re-grow. So I will keep you updated!
Oh, and a little tip on the side: Marina also has a skin care range for men, just in case you are looking for a Christmas present for your boyfriend or husband.
1 / Marina Miracle Herbal Face Oil: Ever since I ran out of my beloved Trilogy Rosehip Oil, I was looking for a good replacement available in Norway. Marina Miracle is a Stavanger based company that produces organic skincare with highly effective ingredients. I have been using the face oil for about two weeks now and my skin feels soft and looks even. Best face oil ever!
2 / Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer: Smashbox primer really works! It smoothes out the skin texture and makes foundation last so much longer. I find it works best if you wait for ten minutes before putting your foundation on.
3 / Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation: This has been a life-saver on rainy days (and we had a lot of them recently) because this Bobbi Brown foundation is waterproof. It goes on smoothly and lasts all day. I don’t know what would happen if you jumped into a pool but in wet weather conditions it definitely stays put.
4 / Moroccanoil Treatment: I told you about this hair oil before and my opinion hasn’t changed. Although I think nothing can truly repair damaged hair, this treatment leaves your hair shinier than ever and prevents hair from splitting more. You can use it on dry or damp hair.
Hey guys! I did some research and found the best new beauty products for this fall. I think they all sound quite exciting. Have you tried any of these yet?
1 / Tom Ford cream colour for eyes: An ultra-pigmented and highly reflective formula combined with antioxidant ingredients for a long-lasting and ultra-smooth finish. This is a limited edition and will be available soon for around 35 Euros.
2 / Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum: In case you have read my reviews on other products (here and here), you know that I am a big fan of Kiehl’s. So of course I am dying to try this new product which claims to have an eye-opening effect and gives you a more refined skin texture around the eyes. Available for around 45 Euros.
3 / Dolce & Gabbana Aurealux: Aurea = gold, lux = light? (Yes, I remember my Latin ) You can guess what it’s supposed to do: It gives the skin a radiant appearance and includes the most advanced skin care technologies based on the Gold Flavo-Silk Tricomplex™ consisting of italian olive oil extract, gold silk sericin and vitamin B3. I have never tried skincare by D&G, so I don’t know if it actually does the job but it surely looks very luxurious and I found quite an impressive review here, but at a price of around 100 Euros for the cream I think I’ll have to pass on that.
4 / Estée Lauder Perfectionist Make-Up: This new foundation promises to instantly brighten and perfect the complexion due to the age-defying Perfectionist serum technology. It also works over time by making the skin look more youthful and hydrated. You can achieve medium to full-coverage with a satin finish and it has SPF 25, which is always a plus. You can get it in 21 shades for about 35 Euros.
5 / Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush: You use it with a cleanser to remove make-up, dirt and oil. It claims to purify the skin due to the sonic action when using it for one minute once or twice per day. I don’t know how it compares to the more famous Clarisonic but for those of you who are looking for a cheaper alternative (around 70 Euros), you might want to give it a try.
One of the best things about living abroad for me is exploring new brands I had never heard of before.
Although I had dropped in Make Up Store Stavanger a few times before I had never actually bought anything. It is a Swedish brand that produces make-up and skincare. I like this shop because of the plain black design and the wide colour range you can find on everything there.
This week I picked up two amazing products from Make Up Store. An eyeshadow that I use as an eyebrow powder and a lipstick, that looks pinky transparent with glitter but actually turns out to be a coral shade on the lips. It can be worn over lipstick for a bit of sparkle or alone for a hint of colour and a nourishing effect.
Do you know Make Up Store? What are your favourite products?
I know October has been around for three days already but some of my recent favourites I didn’t discover before late September and I wanted to test them long enough to actually give you guys a good review.
I think I haven’t been that obsessed with something pink since I was eight. The Treaclemoon bodylotions in “Iced Strawberry Dream” and “The Raspberry Kiss” smell just as sweet as they look like.
But don’t get fooled by the rather artificial looking colours. The scent is really natural and subtle on the skin. The products are vegan and not tested on animals which is another plus.
I absolutely love both of them but I wouldn’t recommend the bodylotions if you have very dry skin. For this season they are perfect for me but in dry winter air I will definitely need a little more intensive care for my skin.
“Si” has been my favourite perfume for a while now. After using the Eau de Parfum for several months I have now discovered the Eau de Parfum Intense version.
The scent lasts much longer and is still noticable after many hours. Actually there are quite a few fragrances that come in an intense version. So if you can find it for your go to fragrance, I recommend you go for it. It’s a little more expensive but definitely worth it, as a little goes a long way.
Have you tried “Si” by Armani yet? What is your favourite perfume?
For months I had heard bloggers and Youtubers rave about Real Techniques brushes and was very keen to try them myself. Finally I found a shop that sells them here in Norway.
I got an angled foundation brush and have been using it for about two weeks.
So is it worth all the hype? That’s a clear yes!!!
I have tried it with different foundations: Sheer and high coverage, BB Cream and cream compact foundation. Whatever you use, it gives you a flawless high definition finish that makes any foundation undetectable on the skin. It’s easy to add many layers of foundation with this brush and still achieve a natural look.
Have you tried the Real Techniques bruhes yet? What is your favourite one?
I used to be obsessed with primers but then for some reason haven’t used them in about two years. This one made me go back: The L’oreal Paris Nude Magique Blur Cream. The “Instant Flawless Perfector”, as it says on the bottle, claims to blur pores and refine the skin texture.
The Blur cream doesn’t provide any coverage but makes your skin look good in any light. My skin is in very good condition at the moment, so sometimes I use it without any other product on top. If you suffer from breakouts or other imperfections like discoloration, I still think the Blur Cream will do the job for you if you just add your favourite foundation, BB Cream or powder. If you do use a product on top of it, make sure you don’t apply too much of the Blur Cream as it is so smooth it will make anything else just slide off.
Have you tried the Blur Cream yet? What is your go to primer?
Being one of Kiehl’s best customers (haha) I get a lot of samples from them. The sachet samples last about two weeks, so even better when you get their luxury sized ones which come in a miniature version of the originals.
The Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate is the newest addition to Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions range and I was lucky enough to try it out before it was available in the stores. It claims to fight tired looking skin, dull appearence and rough looking skin texture. Although I have quite good skin in general, this gave me the freshest look and softest skin ever after using it every morning for about a week. I will definitely get a full size serum after using this up.
The iconic Kiehl’s product Ultra Facial Cream never fails to moisturize my skin, no matter what condition it is in. Since I have combination skin during the warmer season, this is a product I mainly use in winter or after sun-bathing on holiday when my skin is a bit more dry.
The Ultra Facial Toner claims to refine skin texture and gently removes surface debris. To be honest, I never really got the purpose of toners. Until I tried this one. It leaves my skin moisturized and silky soft.
And another month is coming to an end. Can’t believe it’s almost September already. Here in Norway the light is changing a little now, the sun is lower in the sky and the air you inhale is slightly more crisp than a few weeks ago.
It’s not too bad after all – summer here has been amazingly hot and I spent quite a lot of time on the beach this year. And when I lost my sunglasses yesterday, I decided that it might be time to embrace fall now.
But not before showing you my favourite products of this month.
This Face Sculptor by Isadora includes a bronzer, blusher and highlighter. All you need for contouring and highlighting your face. As described on the back of this product, you apply the blusher on the apples of your cheeks, the bronzer on the outer parts of your forehead, sides of your nose, underneath your cheekbones, chin and (if needed) the jawline. You highlight your forehead, cheekbones, chin, cupid’s bow, back of your nose and brow bones (I think highlighter only makes sense underneath your eyes when it’s not shimmery, so I don’t use it there as advised in the picture). The highlighter photographs perfectly and gives you a nice glow when using flash.
I used to use this mascara when I was a teenager and then for some reason neglected it for years. I recently re-discovered this L’oreal classic and can tell you it’s amazing. The Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black doesn’t only give you voluminous but also very long lashes. That’s all you can ask of a mascara.
The Make Up For Ever HD Foundation I was given by a person who didn’t like it at all. I was very grateful because I had wanted to try it for years. I actually like it a lot but then again every skin is different. I think it blends in very well, is invisible and looks flawless in photos. The coverage is buildable and ranges from sheer to almost full coverage.
There is nothing like a classic red on your nails. The Mavala nail polish in 185 Moscow is a timeless colour, it’s easy to apply, long-lasting and you only need one coat.
Organic Rosehip Oil is Miranda Kerr’s secret to glowing skin. I had wanted to try it for a while before I got it at John Lewis in Cambridge. They ship world wide though! The Trilogy version of this skin oil really works wonders on dry skin. But if you have oily to combination skin it doesn’t leave your skin greasy or shiny at all. I know what I’m talking about because I have dry skin in winter and rather oily skin in summer. I started using it again this month cause my skin was a bit flaky after sun bathing.
Yesterday we had dinner and drinks in Puerto Banus, a beautiful little town near Marbella with an amazing marina. I did some shopping at Sephora. I get so excited about this store cause we don’t have it in Germany or Norway. Will show you what I bought back at home. Now getting ready for our last night here.
Have you ever heard about Hawaiian Tropic? I seriously don’t know how I could live without this stuff until now. They make sun protection and After Sun products. They smell amazing and leave your skin very soft.
Look what I found in my mail! As I told you already, I am a big Kiehls fan and have lots of their amazing products. Now they have provided me with an Aromatic Blends set and a personal Kiehls Best Friends Club card, which means you get exclusive offers or invitations to events. Can’t wait to find out more!
Any other Kiehls fans out there or do you have another skincare brand that you swear by? Have a nice Friday evening everyone!
